Edouard Cabane (1857 – 1942, French)

Born in Paris, a pupil of Adolphe William Bouguereau (1825-1905) and Tony Robert-Fleury (1838-1912), he started at the Salon in 1876 and exhibited regularly until 1932 at the Society of Artists French which he joined in 1901.

He gets an honorable mention at the Salon of 1886 and the Universal Exhibition of 1889 and a third class medal in 1903 and second class in 1907.

The work of Edouard Cabane is imbued with his apprenticeship in the studio of Bouguereau and shows a real artistic temperament. We find in his portraits and his religious paintings, this mixture of mannerism, dignity and sensuality, clean the Venetians of the sixteenth century.

Of all his paintings, almost total exclusivity is up to the image of women.
